Love Compatibility Calculator
Are you soulmates or just "talking"? Our Love Calculator uses the highly scientific* FLAMES method to determine if you should plan the wedding or block their number. *Not actually scientific. Do not sue us.
What this calculator does
- The FLAMES Test: Friends, Lovers, Affection, Marriage, Enemies, Siblings.
- Vibe Check: Are you burning bright or crashing hard?
- Reality Check: A fun way to overthink your crush's name.
The Formula
The FLAMES algorithm:
- Take two names (e.g., "Kylie" and "Timothee").
- Cross out common letters (K, y, l, i, e / T, i, m, o, t, h, e, e -> i, e cancel out).
- Count the left over letters.
- Count through the acronym F-L-A-M-E-S until one letter remains.
Unlike real life, here's what that means
- Marriage: Start booking the venue.
- Enemies: It's giving "toxic ex" energy.
- Siblings: Oof. Friend-zoned into the family reunion.
Example Calculation
Name 1: TOM Name 2: JERRY
- Matches: None.
- Count: 3 (T, O, M) + 5 (J, E, R, R, Y) = 8.
- FLAMES count 8:
- F, L, A, M, E, S, F, L (Lovers).
- Result: Lovers. (Explained the tension).
Did You Know? 💡
- The 37% Rule: Mathematically, you should reject the first 37% of people you date, then marry the first person who is better than everyone you've met so far. (It's called the "Optimal Stopping Problem").
- Heartbeat Sync: When you stare into a loved one's eyes for 3 minutes, your heartbeats actually sync up.
- Cuffing Season: The period between October and February where single people desperately look for a partner to survive the winter.
Expert Insight
The "Halo Effect": We tend to assume good-looking people are also smart, funny, and kind. If this calculator gives you a low score with a hottie, maybe it's the universe saving you from a red flag.
Why this matters
It doesn't. Literally at all. But it's fun to screenshot and send to the group chat.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use nicknames? Yes! "Liz" vs "Elizabeth" yields totally different results. Keep trying until you get the result you want (we won't judge).
What if we get "Siblings"? It just means you're comfortable with each other. Or you're from a Game of Thrones episode.
Is this accurate? It is exactly as accurate as a fortune cookie.
