The Formula

The "7 years" rule is a myth.

• First Year: Your 1-year-old dog is actually like a 15-year-old human (Teenager).
• Second Year: Plays out about 9 human years (Young Adult, 24).
• After that: It depends on size. Small dogs add ~4 years/year. Giant dogs add ~7 years/year.

Unlike your vet's chart, here's what that means

• Small Dog (Chihuahua): Lives forever out of spite. At age 10, they are only 56.
• Giant Dog (Great Dane): Gentle giants. At age 10, they are nearly 80. Hug them tight.
• Cats: They basically stop aging after 2 and just become immortal spirits until age 15.

Example Calculation

Your Dog: Golden Retriever (Medium-Large). Age: 4 years old.

1. Year 1 = 15.
2. Year 2 = 24.
3. Years 3 & 4 = +5 each.
4. Human Age: $24 + 5 + 5 = 34$. Your dog is a millennial.
